‎Transmission Fault Plunges Akwa Ibom Into Widespread Blackout
Akwa Ibom State is experiencing a widespread blackout following a fault on the Aba/Itu 132kV transmission line.

‎The development was announced on Wednesday, September 9, as the disruption affected electricity supply across the state.

‎The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company said the outage was caused by the fault on the transmission line and that technical personnel of the Transmission Company of Nigeria were working to resolve the problem.

‎The disruption has left residents and businesses in several parts of the state without electricity, affecting normal activities and operations that depend on public power supply.

‎The electricity distribution company appealed to affected customers for patience while efforts were being made to rectify the fault and restore supply.

‎The company also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured customers that electricity would be restored once the technical work was completed.

‎The Aba/Itu transmission line is an important part of the electricity network serving Akwa Ibom, making faults along the line capable of affecting power supply across large parts of the state.

‎As of the latest update, repair work was ongoing, with residents awaiting the restoration of normal electricity supply.

‎The latest development has renewed concerns among residents and businesses over the impact of interruptions in electricity supply, particularly on commercial activities and other services that rely heavily on stable power.
