The appeal was made on Saturday as voting continued in the Osun governorship election, with the campaign council expressing concern that technical problems with the accreditation devices could prevent eligible voters from casting their ballots.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council said reports had emerged of BVAS devices experiencing difficulties in different parts of the state.
It specifically alleged that some of the devices were unable to capture the faces of elderly voters, creating delays in the accreditation process.
The council said the reported problems required immediate attention from INEC before the conclusion of voting.
It warned that failure to address the technical challenges could result in eligible voters being disenfranchised.
The campaign council also alleged that several of the areas where BVAS problems were reported are strongholds of the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke.
It therefore urged INEC to ensure that the accreditation process was not disrupted by technical difficulties and that voters were given the opportunity to participate in the election.
The call came amid other reports of BVAS-related delays at polling units. Vanguard reported that only 75 out of 342 registered voters had been accredited at one polling unit in Ila Local Government Area because of repeated BVAS glitches.
Voting is ongoing across Osun State, where 1,906,390 registered voters are expected to participate in the governorship election.
