‎Ogun: Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Dies in Road Crash While Fleeing
‎ABEOKUTA — Tragedy has been reported in two separate communities in Ogun State after two women allegedly died following domestic disputes involving their husbands, with one of the men later dying in a road accident while reportedly fleeing the scene.

‎In the first incident, a man identified as Tajudeen Yekini allegedly killed his wife, Tioyin Edunjobi, at their residence in Ogungbade village, near Ayerose village, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.

‎The incident reportedly occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, while the couple’s son was present.

‎The exact cause of the disagreement between the couple had not been established as of the time of the report. However, the couple’s son reportedly raised an alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours who rushed to the apartment and found Edunjobi lying motionless.

‎Police Arrest Husband

‎Following the incident, policemen from the Kemta Police Station were alerted and visited the scene.

‎The woman’s body was evacuated and deposited at a mortuary, while her husband was arrested and taken into police custody.

‎Police detectives were said to have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

‎Another Woman Dies in Ifo

‎Meanwhile, a separate domestic incident occurred about 24 hours earlier in Ibogun Akinode, Ogun State.

‎A man identified as Odukoya Bidemi allegedly killed his wife, Odukoya Adenike, during an argument before fleeing the area.

‎Bidemi was reportedly involved in a scuffle with his wife during which he allegedly hit her against a wall. Adenike later died from injuries sustained during the incident.

‎The matter was reported to the police at about 2 a.m. on August 31, 2026.

‎Suspect Dies While Fleeing

‎After allegedly realising the seriousness of what had happened, Bidemi reportedly fled the scene.

‎Police sources said he later became involved in a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident at Iyana Coker Bus Stop, via Ifo, while attempting to escape.

‎He died at the scene of the crash.

‎Detectives from the Ibogun Division subsequently visited the morgue where the accident victim had been deposited. Photographs were taken for identification, and the body was reportedly confirmed to be that of Bidemi, who had earlier been accused of killing his wife.

‎The family of Adenike has since approached the police seeking the release of her remains for burial.

‎Authorities are continuing investigations into both incidents.
