HARVEY WEINSTEIN FACES SENTENCING TODAY AFTER NEW YORK SEXUAL ASSAULT CONVICTION

The 74-year-old former Hollywood producer faces up to 25 years in prison on the New York conviction. Manhattan prosecutors are seeking a 20-year sentence.
The sentencing comes more than six years after Weinstein was first sentenced in New York, with his legal case undergoing an overturned conviction and multiple retrials since then.
WEINSTEIN CONVICTED AGAIN IN 2025
Weinstein was convicted in 2025 of one count of first-degree criminal sexual act involving Haley.
Haley testified that Weinstein sexually assaulted her at his Manhattan apartment in 2006. Weinstein has denied sexually assaulting or raping anyone.
During the 2025 retrial, jurors also considered allegations involving former model Kaja Sokola and a rape charge involving former aspiring actress Jessica Mann.
Weinstein was acquitted of the charge involving Sokola, while jurors could not reach a verdict on the Mann allegation.
NEW YORK CONVICTION WAS PREVIOUSLY OVERTURNED
Weinstein's original New York conviction came in 2020, when he was found guilty of sexually assaulting Haley and raping Mann. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
New York's highest court overturned those convictions in 2024 and ordered a new trial, finding that the original proceedings had included improper evidence concerning allegations that were not part of the charges being tried.
The reversal did not end the prosecution, leading to the subsequent retrials.
MANN CASE ENDS WITHOUT ANOTHER TRIAL
The unresolved rape charge involving Mann went back before a jury earlier in 2026.
That trial ended in a mistrial in May after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict.
Prosecutors later decided not to pursue another trial on the charge, bringing that part of the New York case to an end.
The decision followed Mann's indication that she did not want to go through another trial.
CALIFORNIA CASE REMAINS SEPARATE
Weinstein also remains involved in a separate criminal case in California.
He was convicted there in 2022 of rape and sexual assault and received a 16-year prison sentence. A California appeals court upheld the conviction in June 2026 but ordered a new sentencing hearing after determining that the original sentence had been affected by the now-overturned New York convictions.
The California case is separate from Wednesday's sentencing in New York.
SENTENCING MARKS ANOTHER STAGE IN LONG LEGAL CASE
Weinstein's New York proceedings have stretched across more than six years since his original 2020 conviction.
Wednesday's hearing concerns the 2025 conviction involving Haley. Haley is expected to address the court in a victim-impact statement, while Weinstein is also expected to speak before the judge determines his sentence.
The outcome of the New York sentencing will not resolve the separate California sentencing process, which remains ongoing.
