GOMBE STUDENTS CITE EDUCATION INTERVENTIONS AS THEY BACK TINUBU, GWAMNA
A student-led movement in Gombe State has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, ahead of the 2027 elections, citing education interventions and programmes as a major reason for its position.

‎The initiative, known as the JAGABA/INUWA Students’ Mandate 2027, is expected to engage students across tertiary institutions and create awareness around education programmes and government interventions.
‎
‎STUDENTS HIGHLIGHT FEDERAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
‎
‎The group said its support for the Tinubu administration was influenced by education-related interventions, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) student loan scheme.
‎
‎The students said the interest-free loan programme had provided financial support to students for tuition and upkeep expenses.
‎
‎They also pointed to investments in technical and vocational education and training, research grants, infrastructure and measures aimed at improving the welfare of university workers.
‎
‎The group's convener, Comrade Kasim Abubakar, said campus ambassadors would take discussions about education programmes and developments to students across tertiary institutions.
‎
‎GOMBE GOVERNMENT'S EDUCATION INTERVENTIONS
‎
‎The students also commended the Gombe State Government for what they described as sustained investment in the education sector since Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya assumed office in 2019.
‎
‎Among the interventions cited were the construction and renovation of classrooms, recruitment of teachers, examination support, scholarships and bursaries, as well as programmes targeting out-of-school children.
‎
‎The group also mentioned the expansion of Gombe State University, the development of Mega Colleges and initiatives supporting girl-child education.
‎
‎CAMPUS AMBASSADORS TO LEAD MOBILISATION
‎
‎According to the group, the newly inaugurated campus ambassadors will engage fellow students on education policies, government programmes and issues affecting their future.
‎
‎The ambassadors are also expected to promote voter education and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
‎
‎The group said its activities would focus on encouraging students to participate in discussions about education, governance and development.
‎
‎SUPPORT FOR GWAMNA
‎
‎The student group also declared support for Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, who was adopted by the Gombe APC as its 2027 governorship candidate following consultations among party stakeholders.
‎
‎The group said it would use its campus network to take discussions about Gwamna's policies and programmes to tertiary institutions.
‎
‎Gwamna's stated agenda includes areas such as economic growth, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, entrepreneurship and innovation.
