The facility is part of Asiko Energy’s wider gas infrastructure development, which also includes plans for LNG storage and distribution at the same location.
5,000-METRIC-TONNE LPG AND PROPANE CAPACITY
The Ijora terminal has a storage capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes for LPG and propane.
The facility is designed to support the storage and distribution of gas products for residential, commercial and industrial users, while increasing the capacity available within Nigeria’s domestic gas supply chain.
Asiko Energy has been developing the Ijora project as part of its efforts to expand access to cleaner energy products across the country.
LNG COMPONENT OF THE PROJECT
The wider Ijora development also includes an LNG terminal with a planned storage capacity of 13,200 metric tonnes.
The LNG component is part of the company’s broader tri-product gas infrastructure, alongside LPG and propane. Earlier project information described the LNG facility as a separate component of the development rather than part of the LPG and propane terminal already being inaugurated.
STRENGTHENING GAS INFRASTRUCTURE
The development is expected to add to Nigeria’s gas storage and distribution infrastructure and provide additional capacity for moving LPG and propane to different categories of consumers.
Asiko Energy has previously described the Ijora project as a major part of its strategy to expand its presence across the gas value chain, including LPG, propane and LNG.
The company has also highlighted the terminal’s connection to the wider logistics network around the Ijora area, supporting the movement of gas products into the domestic market.
EXPANDING ACCESS TO CLEANER ENERGY
The new LPG and propane facility comes as Nigeria continues to expand the use of gas as an alternative energy source for households and businesses.
With the LPG and propane terminal now inaugurated and the broader LNG component forming part of the company’s development plans, the Ijora project represents an expansion of Asiko Energy’s gas infrastructure in Lagos.
