Kidjo was announced as part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026, alongside several major international entertainment figures. The official Walk of Fame announcement listed her in the Recording category.
The recognition marks a major milestone in Kidjo’s decades-long career. Born in Benin, the singer has built an international reputation by blending West African musical traditions with a wide range of global sounds.
Kidjo has also become one of Africa’s most internationally recognised musicians, earning five Grammy Awards during her career. Beyond music, she has used her global platform to advocate for women, children and social development across Africa.
Her selection has been widely celebrated as an important moment for African representation on one of the world's most recognisable entertainment landmarks. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce described the 2026 class as a group of entertainers whose contributions have made a significant impact on the entertainment industry.
The honour will also place Kidjo alongside other prominent names selected for the 2026 class, including Miley Cyrus, Josh Groban, Demi Moore, Timothée Chalamet and Deepika Padukone.
The official unveiling of Kidjo’s star is scheduled for August 18, 2026, according to reports, with actor Willem Dafoe expected to participate as a guest speaker.
