Nafiu gave the advice on Wednesday during an inspection visit to the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Katsina State.
He cautioned corps members against blindly reposting information online and encouraged them to develop the habit of checking the authenticity of content before sharing it with others.
The NYSC DG also drew attention to the growing use of artificial intelligence to create or manipulate photographs, videos and other digital materials. He urged corps members to be particularly careful with such content.
With political activities increasing ahead of the 2027 elections, Nafiu stressed the importance of responsible use of social media and urged corps members to avoid becoming channels for the spread of unverified information.
He also reminded corps members of the need to remain politically neutral during their service year and avoid using their platforms to participate in partisan political campaigns.
The advice comes as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify, with the role of social media expected to remain significant in how Nigerians receive and share political information.
